INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ORGANIZATIONAL SOCIOLOGY (ICOS) 2026
16-17 Mar 2026 Potsdam (Germany)

TRAVEL GRANTS

We are pleased to announce travel grants for presenters at the ICOS 2026.

Available travel grants

We will award two types of travel grants:

  • Three (3) grants for participants from Europe and the Mediterranean region
(i.e. European countries and countries on the Mediterranean Rim): €400 each
  • Two (2) grants for participants from outside Europe and the Mediterranean region: €1,000 each

Eligibility

All presenters are eligible to apply for a travel grant provided that no other funding is available to them through research projects or their institution.
Travel grants are intended exclusively for scholars who would otherwise not be able to cover the costs of participation.

Selection criteria

If the number of applications exceeds the number of available grants, priority will be given according to the following criteria (in this order):

  1. First authors will be prioritized over co-authors.
  2. Applicants from C countries, then B countries, then A countries, according to the classification of the International Sociological Association
    (see: https://www.isa-sociology.org/en/membership/table-of-economies-by-category).
  3. Scholars without a doctoral degree will be prioritized over scholars with a doctoral degree.
  4. Time since receipt of the first doctoral degree, with those who received their doctoral degree more recently given higher priority.
  5. Any remaining grants (if applicable) will be allocated by random selection.

Conditions

  • Only one travel grant per presentation can be awarded.
  • Travel grants are paid as reimbursement of actual expenses only, after participation in the conference.
  • Eligible expenses include:
    • Public transportation (including flights; economy class only)
    • Accommodation (up to €75 per night)
  • Reimbursement requires submission of invoices and receipts.
  • We strongly recommend purchasing travel cancellation insurance, as we cannot reimburse costs for cancelled bookings.
  • Travel arrangements should be booked as economically as possible.
